In February this year, I was invited by the guys from Selby RacingTeam, to join them as a guest driver in their race at Bathurst 12 hours.
I was asked again to join them for a 3 hour race at Virginia International Raceway.
Well the invite came about 22.00 my time, a surprise but not a bad one, Good job i like the track and i am used to the car, mostly..as the race was in 10 hours and i had been up 15 hours already. Had a quick test and the weather was ok, so good to go.
I was happy with the Qualify time that i did, a 1:46.223 which got us into 12th on the grid.
Not so happy with the start, i did not want to get involved with any first turn issues! so held back a little bit…then got the timing wrong and lost 2 places before the first turn…Doh! but it was safe and i got the places back in a few laps so not too bad.
The stint was very busy and kept me focused for my hour…no time to really look after tyres just had to keep pushing.
I was disappointed that there was not more 47’s in my stint.
Still a good clean drive for me, my 33 lap stint ended in 7th place with just 1 off track so i am happy.
Nathen got the car after the first pit stop, now back to 11th place and 2 hours to go.
66 busy laps later and lots of place changes going on the Finnish flag was out and Nathen brought the car home in 7th place
Nathan was doing a superb job with his 1st hour so we left him in to do the 2nd 🙂 really nice times and driving
big well done.
Very happy with the Qualifying position and even happier with the 7th place for the Selby Car.
Thanks to Chris and Shaun for the spotting and the Fuel help and company for the 3 hours.
All in all….Well done Selby Racing.
